What to do when there is not much you can do?

I’ve been sitting on how to write an update on what’s happening in Enkanini, a place where we’ve been active for the past 10 years. Strangely, this is the first year we aren’t going there and it feels like the right decision. It’s a huge contrast as it’s been the favored destination with our InSite teams, we’ve had more movement in terms of social projects with the most potential for real community transformation, and yet, it’s not happening as we hoped.

How I got out of a funk.

It's been silent. I haven't written a newsletter since June. I do have a really good reason.

I didn't know what to say.

Here's why:
I wasn't sure if InSite, or other Reckoning initiatives would continue. I wasn't burned out. I hadn't lost a sense of purpose. Here's the thing, I didn't enjoy how things were going. I felt icky inside. Things needed to change but I didn't know what needed to change or how.  Have you ever had that experience?

Enkanini trip in Pictures

InSite used the IDEO human-centered Design material as we partnered with the #Philipsfoundation installing 10 solar street lights and getting a bakery structure built in the informal settlement of #Enkanini on the edge of Stellenbosch.
