Youth Program

InSite Goes Green

Restructuring our program during a pandemic.

How will this year work?

In previous years, InSite has taken students to South Africa to physically contribute to the grassroots projects they’ve fundraised for. In our current circumstances, that is no longer possible.

InSite will continue to offer a program and stay connected to our South African Partners by implementing similar goals locally: Training students in leadership and growing food.

We aim to create 300 new home gardens.

In collaboration with many other initiatives and social, government agencies. We will green not just Amsterdam but other urban areas in The Netherlands.

Program Details

  • Leadership training - Action Sundays

Reckoning approach: creating a playground for CLASS (Character, Leadership and Social Skills).

Once a month*, Agents focus on using play, team-building and art-making as a develop the seven character pillars that we believe encompass a leader:

    • Trust

    • Respect

    • Responsibility

    • Fairness

    • Care

    • Transformative Beauty

    • Citizenship

Agents will directly apply their learning on projects existing in the real-world, specifically the initiatives designed by the City of Amsterdam to meet their 2030 eco goals. In addition, they will each fundraise €500,- each to continue support for our South African Partners, which will then be doubled through a Healing Hands Grant.

  • Traineeship - Greening Amsterdam

For the first time, InSite will be offering Agents a traineeship in-line with the IB academic calendar*. Traineeships are great opportunities to gain experience in a field that interests you.

    • Eco-stewardship - Design tangible, natural systems for preserving the natural world (i.e. worm farms, compost, vertical and city-suitable gardens).

    • Business Development - Learn what it takes to develop a business with a sharp, entrepreneurial mindset.

    • Media** - Discover stories, create content, and curate it for social media with design tools and software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.)

  • Garden jumpstart - Plant Kit

Welcome a plant friend into your home. Agents will receive a plant friend that they will re-pot, grow, and care for to jumpstart their curiosity for nature and the stewardship that comes along with it.

  • Second-hand clothing store - InSite’s location

For the first time in 10 years, InSite has a physical location. We have been donated a large amount (approximately 2 tons) of clothing and a space that we can transform as our own.

In cooperation with community volunteers and InSite students, we will be cultivating a space for students to study, hangout, connect, and have exposure to our in-house media studio.

  • Pricing -

Students only pay a €400 training fee and fundraise €500 that we’ll double and send to South Africa.
